
Al Christiano, 83, died at his residence on Tuesday, November 7, 2006. He was born in Racine on March 4, 1923, the son of the late Charles and Concetta (nee: DeLuca) Christiano. Al served his country with the U.S. Marines Corps and was discharged as a sergeant in 1945. On November 24, 1949, in St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to the former Carm A. Totero, who preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 1988. Along with his brothers John and Arnie, they owned and operated Christiano Brothers Meats and Groceries for over 50 years; until the store was sold in 1986. Al was a member; of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, a Life-Member of Roma Lodge, various city soft ball teams, including Charlie’s Club, Totero’s and the Commadores. He was a skillful golfer and bocce player. When Al was not at the store he could always be found at Johnson Park and later on Ives Grove. He won his age bracket nearly every year in the Senior Masters. Surviving are his devoted daughter Cathy (Jack) Henning; his 2 grandsons Jacob and Andrew all of Pewaukee; brother and sister Arnie Christiano, Dolores (Bill) Pinnow all of Racine; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Iva Boskovich in Florida, Tony Totero Sr., Joseph (Elvie) Totero, Sam Totero, all of Racine, Robert (Fern) Totero in Florida. He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many many friends. In addition to his parents and his wife, his brother John Christiano, sisters, Mary Ruffalo, Rose (Michael) Cairo, Edith (Nick) Binetti, and Angie (Joseph) Innocenzi, preceded him in death. His Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., at 10:30 a.m. Friday, with Rev. William J. Dietzler officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials can be made to your favorite charity.
