Surrounded by the love of his family, Alan L. "Dago" Cacciotti, 63, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2010. Alan was born in Racine on August 6, 1946, son of the late Alex and Aldine (nee: Greider) Cacciotti. After graduating from Wm. Horlick High School, he entered into the U.S. Army Reserve, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. On February 5, 1972 he married Mary H. Beecher at Evangelical United Methodist Church in Racine.

Alan recently retired from the Racine Public Works Department, and previously worked at Gorton Machine, Lars Machine, and then Famco in Kenosha. For most of his life, Alan was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting with both gun and bow, spending time at his trailer in Necedah and sitting around the campfire with family and friends. He also enjoyed golfing in several Johnson Park leagues and riding his motorcycles, especially his Harley. Above all Al treasured the time he spent with his grandsons .

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; their children, Nicole Yost, and Alan J. (Tiffany) Cacciotti; grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Yost and Collin, Cole, and Cooper Cacciotti; brothers, Alex (Sharon) Cacciotti, Ric Cacciotti, and Roy (Martha) Cacciotti; as well as other relatives and many friends. One of Al's last wishes was to tell his good friend, Lynn Hansen, "thanks for the memories" and to let each and every "relative" and friend know that he treasured their love and loved them for the unique, exceptional and extraordinary people that they are.

Memorial services will be held in the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Our family extends many sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Michael Mullane and his staff for their valiant efforts in fighting this battle with Alan; and to everyone at Hospice Alliance for the compassionate care given to Alan during his last days with us.
