Alexandro "Alex"
Ramos
Jun 13, 1937 — Jan 13, 2014
Racine – Alexandro "Alex" Ramos, age 76, passed away unexpectedly at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Monday, January 13, 2014.
Alexandro was born in Fort Worth, Texas on June 13, 1937 to Manuel and Juanita (nee: Mata) Ramos and moved to Racine in 1949. On July 6, 1975 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, G. Francisca (nee: Ruiz) Ramos.
During his career, Alex was employed at Hansche Farms an hourly employee; a foundry worker at Skien Foundry, Modern Plate and, lastly, at American Motors/Chrysler for over 15 years – taking an early retirement in 1989. Alex did return to work back at Modern Plate until he permanently retired at the age of 62. With a profound Christian faith, he was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Among his interests, he was a phenomenal cook; enjoyed working around his home; rummaging for that perfect bargain; and, above all, absolutely loved being in the surroundings of his entire family.
Surviving are his loving wife of over 37 years, Francisca "Panchita" Ramos; their children, Juan (Carmen) Ramos and Angelica (Matt Bouwens) Ramos; grandchildren, Kayli, Kassandra and Kandiss Ramos; and Mathias Alejandro Bouwens; brother, Frederico Ramos; sister, Ruby (Alex) Chavez; brothers-in-law, Francisco, Augustin and Pedro Ruiz; sisters-in-law, Magdalena, Victoria and Margarita Ruiz; dear cousins, Henry, Antonio, Jesse, Javier, Juanita, Socorro Mata and Lupe Sosa – and all their families; devoted niece of whom helped Alex in so many ways, Cathy (Chris) Sanchez; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends – too numerous to mention by name.
In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by his step-mother, Jesse (nee: Cisneros) Ramos; brother, Bernardo Ramos; sister-in-law, Irene Martinez; and cousin, Meliton Mata II.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1100 Erie Street, at 9:00 am with Fr. Ricardo Martin officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will begin in St. Patrick's Church on Friday evening at 6:00 pm and will continue all through the night until the time of the Mass on Saturday at 9:00 am.
