Kenosha – Alfonso " Poncho " Neave, Sr. 83, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Aurora Medical Center – Kenosha. He was born in Mexico on November 6, 1930, son of the late Jose and Tomasa (nee: Mendez) Neave. In 1958 he was married to Maria Rodriguez, and shortly afterwards they moved to Kenosha. Alfonso worked at Arneson Foundry for nearly 32 years, retiring in 1992 and dedicating himself to his garden

Poncho will forever be remembered for his homegrown vegetables especially chiles (hot peppers) and green tomatillos, his one of a kind homemade salsa, menudo, soup and tamales all that he cooked for his family and friends, sold and generously gave away.

Alfonso is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 58 years, Maria; 11 children, Unice Neave, Margarita (Benino) Garza, Alfonso Neave Jr., Petra Neave, Enriqueta Mancinas, Jose Vincente (Olga) Neave, Raul (Martha) Neave,  Juanita (Daniel) Cordova, Tomasa Neave, Blanca Neave, and Ernesto Valdez; 52 grandchildren, 108 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; his brother Rodolfo Neave, and sister Concha Neave; best friend, Jose Mares; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Xavier Neave; grandchildren Abraham Lira and Georgia Ann Neave, great- great grandson Marciano Osorio; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2013 with Rev. Pablo Cirujeda officiating. Burial will follow at St. Casmir's Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home Sunday evening from 5pm to 7pm, and on Monday morning beginning at 10am. Memorials to the family have been suggested.
