
Racine – Deacon Alfonza Hayslett, 80, was called Home by his Loving Savior, after completing his early journey, on Holy Saturday, April 3, 2010. He was born in Collierville, TN on June 1, 1929 the son of the late Eldridge and Bernice (nee: Grandberry) Hayslett. Deacon Hayslett had been employed by Harris Metals for over 42 years and was a retired member of the Local where he served as a trustee. On June 15, 1992, in Las Vegas, NV, he was united in marriage to the former Rosalind Jenkins. Deacon Hayslett was a devoted member of Greater Mt. Eagle Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the Male Chorus and was a former member of the Combined Choir. He truly loved the Lord. He was an avid pool player and enjoyed working in the yard. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Rosalind; children, Janet Barker, Joyce Barker, Vanessa Hasan, Kirk (Renee) Barker, all of Racine, Joan (Dennis) Jenkins, of Atlanta, GA, and Sean (Heather) Dunn, of Houston, TX; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Ida Bea Martin and Jean Shields, both of Memphis, TN, Borice (Lysander) Fason, of Collierville, TN, and Dorothy (Ellis) Cotton, of Racine; brother, William F. Hayslett, of Detroit, MI; mother-in-law, Senia Wheeler, of Racine. Deacon Hayslett is further survived by his nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-laws, other relatives, church family, and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny W. and Jesse L Hayslett. His Homegoing Service will be held in Greater Mt. Eagle Missionary Baptist Church, 929 State St., at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10th, with Rev. Keith T. Evans officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery on Monday, April 12th at 10:00 a.m.
