In Loving Memory of Alice Fay

Alice Fay was a woman of remarkable warmth, joy, and generosity. She had a beautiful soul, a wonderful sense of humor, and a laughter that brought light to those around her. Her genuine desire to help others was reflected in the kindness she showed and the love she shared so freely. Alice made people feel cared for, welcomed, and remembered, and her presence brought happiness wherever she went.

Family held a special place in Alice’s heart. She treasured her sons, Alex Scales and Tony Turner, and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, Joy and Bianca Scales. Their FaceTime conversations and shared moments brought her great joy and created memories her family will hold close forever. Alice also shared a special bond with her beloved granddog, Casa, her “puppy love,” whose companionship brought her comfort and happiness.

For more than 20 years, Alice devoted herself to teaching. To her, teaching was more than a career; it was a calling and a way to give back to her community. She cared deeply about helping children learn, grow, and develop important life skills. Through her encouragement, patience, and dedication, she made a lasting difference in the lives of many children and families. Her teaching legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the lessons she shared.

Music, especially the blues, was another meaningful part of Alice’s life. She proudly served as the CEO of The Legacy of Albert King Foundation, also known as The Blues Boy, helping preserve and carry forward the legacy of her grandfather, the legendary blues musician Albert N. King. She took great pride in honoring his music and ensuring that his remarkable legacy continued to be remembered.

Alice’s faith guided and encouraged her throughout her life. She was a member of Word of Faith and loved attending church on Sundays. She believed in forgiveness, loving God, and trusting that better days would come. The words she often shared reflected the faith she carried in her heart: “Forgive those who hurt you, start to love God, and things will change.”

Alice leaves to cherish her beautiful memory: her mother, Evelyn Smith; her sons, Alex Scales and Tony Turner; her brother, Alfred Smith; her sister, Pamela Woods; her god-sister, Carrie Larry; her grandchildren, Joy and Bianca Scales; her beloved granddog, Casa; her aunt, Mary (William) Bland; her uncles, Henry (Sherry) Tyler and Andrew (Linda) Tyler; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her grandfather, the legendary blues musician Albert N. King; her beloved grandmother, Elmer (Henry) Tyler; her aunt, Betty Hood; and her uncles, Dewey Bobo and Logan (Avis) Tyler.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, in the Word of Life Family Church, 1619 N.Newman Road, Mount Pleasant at 12:00  Noon with Pastor Manuel Lozano officiating.  There will be visitation for family and friends in the church from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. 

Alice will be remembered for her joyful spirit, generous heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for her family. She will also be remembered for the children she taught, the community she served, the faith she carried, and the music and family legacy she honored with pride. Her life was a gift to all who knew her, and the love she gave will continue through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, students, and all those whose lives she touched.

Though she is no longer with us, Alice’s laughter, kindness, faith, and love will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her memory will be cherished, her legacy will endure, and she will never be forgotten.

She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered.
