
Franksville- Andja Milicevic, age 80; loving wife, mother and grandmother; passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.
Andja was born in Lokanj, Bosnia on August 10, 1933 to the late Zarija and Jela (nee: Lakic) Popadic. On November 19, 1953 in Bosnia, she was united in marriage with Vaskrsije “Vaso” Milicevic. They immigrated to Racine on November 29, 1970. With a tireless work ethic, Andja was employed by AMC / Chrysler Motors for over 17 years before retiring. However, caring for her family was always her first priority. She graciously organized a memorable trip back home to Bosnia, just two months ago, accompanied by all of her loving family.
Andja was a longtime member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church on Braun Road. Gardening was her passion and she was a phenomenal cook. She also enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting. Above all, Andja was happiest when in the surroundings of her entire family and extensive circle of friends.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 60 years, Vaskrsije “Vaso”; their children, Ziko (Ruza) Milicevic, Ljiljana (Joco) Zaric, Jelena Biersach and Nada (Milisav) Lazarevic; 12 grandchildren of whom she cherished and adored, Jovan, Aleksandar, Nada, Milan, Marko, Andja, Savka, BJ, Dana, Maja, Mariana and Kristina; 2 great-grandchildren, Katija and Natalija; brother, Mladen Popadic; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Andja was preceded in death by her brother, Milan Popadic; and sister, Krsmanija Matic.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 10 am in St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 6108 Braun Rd. in Racine, with Father Petar Sailovic officiating. Interment will be on Saturday at 12:00 noon in St. Sava Serbian Cemetery in Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 pm with the Mali Pomen prayer service being offered at 7 pm. There will also be visitation in the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 – 9:45 am at which time the procession will leave for St. George Church.

Nobody will every replace Baba Andja. She was someone very special person. We will miss her. I hope you find some comfort to know she will always be in our hearts and is now with God. I love you all.
