On June 27, 2023, in the city of Kenosha, Wisconsin, André DeShawn Hicks, a resident of Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed away without incident. On February 1, 1972, in the city of Chicago, Illinois, André was born to his parents, Billie Boyd and Zenobia Hicks. He was their first child.

In 1979, André and his family relocated to Kenosha, Wisconsin. There, he attended Wilson Elementary, McKinley Middle, and Bradford High Schools. He held a number of different industrial positions. André was not a member of any of the churches in the area, but he maintained his faith and fitness as a part of his daily routine.

When André was younger, he possessed a number of skills that complemented and amplified his natural abilities. He was an outstanding artist who honed his creative abilities to an amazing level over the course of his career. He was an exceptionally talented and highly imaginative poet, and his rhymes and raps were all original creations of his own. André put in a lot of effort to improve his talents in every facet of his life, and as a result, he continued to grow better and better over time. André was often referred to as a good counselor, and it was said that he was always willing to offer his insights and encourage others while they were going through challenging situations. André's personality was contagious, and it helped him keep others enthusiastic.

His parents, Billie Boyd and Zenobia Hicks, along with his children, DeAntray Hicks, Shardre Brown, LaShauna McPhearson, Devante Ratliff, Jaguar Davis, Dre-Kearra Hicks, Toneisha Johnson, Saverio Parker, Deyonce Hicks, Layanna Hicks, Diamond Curtis, A'Legacy Davis, Dallas Derring, Candace Gill, and Caroline Gill, his brother Maurice (Michelle) Hicks, sister Jasmine (Elroy) Holmes, and three bonus sisters, Tenisha, Latrice, and Krystal Jelks; grandmother Sarah (Harold) Hopson; nieces Maurissa Hicks, Jaeda Holmes, and Jordyan Holmes; nephews, Connor Schacht, Kamary Hicks, Marcus Carpenter, and Evander Holmes; first cousin Marcus Boyd; and His beloved companion, Kara Taylor; a special friend, Chaka Davis; seventeen grandchildren; and a host of aunts and uncle's will mourn him and remember him forever. André, also known as Superman, was a highly intelligent person who enjoyed the love of far too many people to name them all.

André Hicks was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jimmy and Zenola Boyd, and William and Reatha Miller.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, July 14, 2023, for a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.   A service celebrating his life and Homegoing will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Minister Anthony Powell officiating.  His interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Racine after the service.
