Racine – Andrew Dean Confer, Sr. passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday, December 6, 2005. He was 63. Shorty was born in Riemersburg, Pennsylvania on October 28, 1942, son of the late Andrew and Elsie Mae (nee: Priester) Confer. Most of his life he had lived in Racine. Shorty served in the Army and Army Reserve from 1964 – 1975. Shorty was an avid sports fan, and a huge fan of the Packers. He had many friends with whom he enjoyed playing darts and pool in many local leagues. Shorty will be remembered fondly for his willingness to help others. He is survived by his children, Andy (Patty) Confer of Mukwonago, Pat (Jeff) Winkler, Bob (Laura) Confer, Bill Confer, and Matt Confer all of Racine; 12 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter; brothers and sisters Chuck, Dan, Walley, Susan, Betty, Ruth Ann, Beverly, and Cathy; many nieces, nephews, other friends, and relatives. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Catarina Rodriguez; sister Irene, and brothers Pete, Vic, and Jay. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 4pm on Saturday, December 10, 2005. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been encouraged.
