
Racine – Ann (nee: Kerzic) Rompella, 88, passed away unexpectedly at the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 5:20 pm after suffering a heart attack earlier in the day. Ann was born in Waukegan, IL on July 21, 1918 to the late Anton and Mariana (nee: Novak) Kerzic, Sr. She lived most of her life in Waukegan and Lake Villa, IL until moving to Racine in 1994. A 1936 graduate of the Waukegan Township High School, Ann was a longtime civil service employee of the United States Government. In Racine, she was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. For many years, Ann was a proud member of Mother of God Catholic Church in Waukegan. For over 70 years, she was an active member of the Slovene National Benefit Society – Lodge 14. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to Slovenian music, reading, handcrafts and loved being in the surroundings of her family. Surviving are her son, Frank J. Rompella; daughters, Kathleen Marian and Karen (William) Rompella-Sullivan; daughter-in-law, Joann Calamia-Rompella; grandchildren, Amanda Robinson, Melanie (Andrew) Rompella-Justice, Natalie Rompella and Adam (Annie Crawford) Robinson; and by other special relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her beloved son, Richard Dean Rompella, and by her brother, Anton Kerzic, Jr. Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Rd. “Hwy KR” in Racine, on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will take place at North Shore Garden of Memories in N. Chicago, IL on Thursday at 3:00 pm. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 11 am – 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Fr. Mark Jones of St. Lucy Church or to the SNPJ Lodge, to use in their discretion for the benefit of children in need have been suggested. A special note of thanks to the entire staff at All Saints; to Dr. James Tierney and Dr. Robert Gullberg; and to the first responders of Racine Fire, Rescue and Sheriff’s Dept. for the compassionate care that was so warmly extended to our Mom and Grandma on Monday.
