Anne Veronica
Mercier
Apr 8, 1923 — Dec 30, 2017
Racine – Anne Veronica (nee: Slivon) Mercier, age 94; passed away peacefully, surrounded with the love of her family, at Ridgewood Care Center on Saturday, December 30, 2017.
Anne was born in Czechoslovakia on April 8, 1923 to the late George and Barbara (nee: Mitas) Slivon. She lived in Racine since 1938. On September 8, 1945 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, DeWayne Joseph Mercier, who preceded her in death on September 5, 2010.
She was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Church until it closed in 1997….when she became a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking Slovakian cuisine – especially Kolaches; her home was always filled with that wonderful aroma of freshly baked goods coming from her oven. She enjoyed knitting, embroidery, crocheting, and was an excellent seamstress. She has given us many memorable treasures of her quilts, afghans, clothing and especially her daughter's prom dresses. Her family meant the world to her and she loved and cherished being surrounded by the many generations. Above all, she loved God. She taught all of us at an early age how to live our lives as good Christians and cherish the many blessings God has given us. We will truly miss you, mom, and will forever carry you in our hearts.
Surviving are her children, James (Lynn) Mercier and Kathy Mercier; grandchildren, Mark (Sarah) Mercier, Tim Mercier, Dan (fiancé, Stephanie Herte) Mercier; Jason (Cayce) Price and Russell (Nicolle) Jackson; great-grandchildren, Jason "J.J." Price, Johnathan Mercier and Macy Mercier; brother, Joseph Slivon; sisters, Josephine Russell and Gabrielle (John) Pretes; sisters-in-law, Mary Slivon, Dolly Scott, Marion (John) Van Helden and "Toots" Mercier; brother-in-law, Chuck (Peggy) Mercier; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anne was preceded in death by her brother, Rudy Slivon; sister, Mary (Joseph) Kyano; and brother-in-law, Robert Russell.
