Obituary

Racine-Aretha Lynn Abbott, 47, was called home on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. Aretha was born April 16, 1969 to Arthur and Deborah (nee: Greer) Abbott.

Aretha graduated from JI Case High School in Racine, WI in 1989 going on to Job Corp where she completed her course in computers. She was employed with Belle Urban Transit for over 20 years, until her death on September 13, 2016.  Given the name "Minnesota Fat" by her mom, Aretha was very optimistic, fun and loving.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She loved shooting pool and was great at it.  She also enjoyed fishing.

Aretha leaves to cherish her memories her parents; Arthur Abbott and Deborah (nee: Greer) Abbott; siblings; James Greer of Minneapolis, MN, Timothy Abbott, Andrew Hamilton, Montrell Greer, Donte' (Pam) Higginbottom all of Racine, and James (NaTashia) Billups of Rockford, IL; one sister, Adrianne Greer of Racine, WI. 4 uncles and  one aunt.  Close friends Sonji Tolliver, Cedric Tolliver and family, and #1 Papa Shep.  Godmother Carrie Jo Pinson of Racine, God children to many to name, but loved, thought of and respected all.  Four God sisters and five God brothers. Eleven nieces;   special niece Kaneesha; six nephews; special nephew Traequan; five great nieces and 3 great nephews.  Aretha had a great deal of adopted aunts, uncles and cousins.

Aretha is preceded in death by grandparents Willie Frank and Levora Abbot, L. Book and Priscilla Greer, Betty (nee: Abbott) White and O'Willie Brandon.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1123 Center Street, with Pastor Melvin Hargrove officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and in the church on Friday from 10-11 am.

Service: 11 am on Friday, September 23, 2016 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1123 Center Street

Visitation: Thursday in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Friday in St. Paul Baptist Church from 10-11 am

Burial: Graceland Cemetery
