Arthur D. James, 94, passed away at the Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie on Saturday, February 2, 2008. He was born in Racine on February 28, 1913 the son of the late John Russ and Winifred (nee: Watts) James. On July 21, 1937, in Detroit, MI, he was united in marriage to the former Udine Adline Sawall who preceded him in death on April 4, 2006. Mr. James had been a member of Atonement Lutheran Church for over 63 years. He had been employed by Webster Electric, Oster Mfg, and Rexnord, retiring in 1976. He was a 63-year member of the Masonic Lodge # 92 FA and M, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 286 Kenosha, and was a lifelong ham radio operator. Art was one who lived life to the fullest. He spent many hours dancing, golfing and most of all socializing. He loved to try new hobbies and tackle new technology. He taught many, through example, what graceful aging really means. Surviving are his children, Susan Koran of Sun Prairie and John (Cyndi) James of Racine; 5 grandchildren, Tracie (Jeff) Slegers, Mike (Cindy) James, Don James, Jim (Michele) Koran and Steve (Missy) Koran; 6 great grandchildren, Kyle, Eric, Christine, Jacob, Madeline and Amelia Koran; his sister Florence Osius of Racine. His nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive him. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife Udine, he was preceded in death by his sisters Estella Chisholm, Phillipa Rusch, Harriet Mertins and Ethel Heuer. His Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, February 8th at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Warren D. Williams officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Service. Private entombment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to either the Hospice Alliance's Hospice House, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 or your favorite charity.
