Obituary

MOUNT PLEASANT – Audrey J. Knotek, 88, passed away at Froedtert South – St. Catherine's Hospital on Friday, August 2, 2019.

She was born in Racine on February 24, 1931, the daughter of the late Len Anthony and Ethyle Mary (nee: Mohrbacher) Kobal.  She graduated from St. Catherine's High School.  On June 6, 1953 she married Frank Cyrill Knotek.

After raising her children, Audrey went to work with the developmentally disabled.  It soon became a lifelong passion for her; working at both the Children's House and later, Racine Residential Care.

Audrey was a loving wife and mother that also had a soft spot for animals; especially her many dogs throughout the years.  She had a green thumb and loved tending to her plants and flowers.  Audrey was also a longtime member of the Racine Chorale.

In addition to her husband Frank, Audrey is survived by her sons, Paul (Mary) Knotek of Mount Pleasant, Stephan (Sheryl) Knotek, Sr., of St. Paul, MN and Neil Scott Knotek of Mount Pleasant; her grandchildren, Hannah (Jose), Jacob, Brooke (Tucker) and Stephan, Jr.; her great grandchildren, Mason, Logan, and Simon; her brother, Robert (Evelyn) Kobal of Caledonia; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her dear son, David Knotek, who passed away in a car accident in 1976.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, August 10, 2019 for a time to meet with her family from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Per Audrey's wishes there will not be a service and a private interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum on Friday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the Wisconsin Humane Society – Racine Chapter.
