
Benjamin L. “Uncle Benny” Eckblad Racine – Mr. Benjamin L. Eckblad, 91, died at St. Mary’s Medical Center on Friday, December 2, 2005. He was born in Racine on February 10, 1914 to the late George and Karen (nee: Hanson) Eckblad. On May 24, 1941, he married the former Borgne Olsen at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Racine. Mr. Eckblad served his country with the US Army during WWII. He worked 42 enjoyable years at Walker Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1979. Mr. Eckblad belonged to Racine Bible Church and served on numerous boards including, Lake Ripley Institute Bible Camp, Christian Businessmen and the Rescue Mission of Racine. He also served as the Trinity Methodist Church Sunday school superintendent. In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, Borgne, his survivors include his children, Tim (Cyndy) Eckblad, Sharon Tradewell all of Racine; grandchildren, Brian (Amy) Eckblad of Grand Blanc, MI, Andy (Rebecca) Eckblad of Madison, Chris (Christine) Eckblad of Wauwatosa, Matt (Jenny) Tradewell of LaCrosse, WI, Kaye Tradewell of Racine; great grandchildren, Zach, Rachel, Rebecca, Marley, Zoe, and Edie Eckblad and Grace Tradewell; brother, Wesley (Margaret) Eckblad of Winona, MN; sisters-in-law, Edith Eckblad and Edith Gagnon both of Racine and many special nieces, nephews and other family members. In addition to his parents, his brothers, Ralph, Edgar, Marshall and Walter Eckblad, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mildred Elstrom, Dan Elstrom and LeRoy Scott also preceded him in death. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, December 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. for “Uncle Benny’s” memorial service celebrating his life with Rev. John Miesel officiating. There will be an opportunity to meet with the family from 1- 2 pm. A private burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Lake Ripley Institute Bible Camp. Mr. Eckblad’s family would like to thank Dr. James P. Gierhan and his nurses, Kelly and Linda for their years of loving care.
