
South Milwaukee – Benjamin Romero, 82, passed away at Franciscan Villa on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. He was born in Zavala County, Texas on March 10, 1931, son of the late Geronimo and Joaquina (nee: Malacara) Romero. He served with pride and honor in the US Army during the Korean War, and following his discharge he settled in Milwaukee.
Benjamin worked for the Harnischfeger Corporation as a welder for many years. His many interests included playing pool; playing the guitar and singing Mexican love ballads; and spending time with his wife, Delores and their dogs.
He is survived by his children, Magdalena (Julio) Olmeda Santana of Milwaukee, Raquel (Douglas) Wehausen of Oak Creek, and Carlos Romero of San Antonio, Texas; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; his sister, Mary Romero of Jackson, Michigan; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded by his parents, his wife Delores, and by 13 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Interment and military honors will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. All are invited to visit with the family in the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m.
