Kenosha – Mrs. Bessie Mae Young, 72, passed away at Aurora St. Luke’s in Milwaukee on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

She was born in Allison, AL on May 2, 1954, and moved to Kenosha in the early 1960’s. She graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School and attended Carthage College.

Bessie married Eddie L. Young on May 25, 1978.

She worked at as a seamstress at Jockey International for over 20 years before her retirement and was a member of the Blessing Center in Kenosha.

In addition to her loving husband Eddie, Bessie is survived her daughters, Felicia Hopkins of Norfolk, VA, Tonia Carr-Redd of Kenosha; her sons, Eddie Carr of Kenosha and Charles Young of Racine; her brothers, Clevland and Anthony (Rhonda); her sister, Clara (Charles); as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bessie; her daughter Leona Young; and her siblings, Carnell, Patricia and Mary.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, for a visitation from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. A service celebrating her life and Homegoing will take place at 11:00 am with Rev. Charles Gates officiating. Her interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
