Betty Jean Berryhill, lovingly known to all as "Aunt Betty," was called Home by her loving Savior on Thursday, July 17, 2025, just ten days shy of her 93rd birthday. She was born on July 27, 1932, in Warren, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Forrice and Roxie (née Price) Finley.

Aunt Betty's life was one of strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to others. She dedicated over 31 years of service as a caregiver at Ridgewood Care Center before retiring from Racine County. Her heart for caregiving extended beyond her profession—she held a foster care license with the State of Wisconsin and selflessly cared for five children, later adopting two of her great-nieces at the remarkable age of 68.

Her deep and abiding faith guided every step of her journey. A faithful member of Israel of God W.H.A. Church, Betty served diligently as Treasurer of the Local Educational Workshop and the head cook of the Culinary staff with grace and generosity. Her love for her church family mirrored the same spirit she poured into her own.

To her family, Aunt Betty was the glue that held everyone together. She showed up without question, without hesitation whenever she was needed. Whether with her time, her love, or her resources, she gave freely and never asked for anything in return. Her life was a testament to her belief in family, faith, and service.

Outside of work and church, Betty found joy in sewing, cooking, and traveling. Remarkably independent, at the age of 92 she continued to drive herself to church and around town and chauffeuring others. She enjoyed shopping and collecting many treasures, and could always be found in her favorite recliner, happily watching her beloved western shows.

Aunt Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. She is survived by her daughters: Kathryn Love, Mary Ann Beechem, and Kayla Berryhill, all of Racine; and Chantell Berryhill of Savannah, GA. She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Gerald (Darcy) Love, Lisa Cooper, Anthony Love, Allison Love, Percy (Judith) Beechem, Felicia (Vondell) Beechem, ZeMier Edwards, ZCylah Berryhill, Zerenity Berryhill, Azariah Moore, JaKobi Cobb, and Kaylani Cobb; 12 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings: Mother Alice Riley, Raleigh "Jim" Finley, Mother Henrietta (Rev. George) Hamilton, Jarvis (Marilyn) Finley, and Ricky Finley; her sister-in-law, Mother Thelma Finley; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and dear friends who will carry her memory forward. She was preceded in death by her Parents, beloved son, Chester Beechem; siblings Rev. Lee Edward Finley, Nathaniel "Nick" Finley, and Juanita (Ellis) Person; brother-in-law, Rev. Willie Riley; and sister-in-law, Bernice Finley.

Betty Jean Berryhill's legacy is one of faith, love, kindness, and a steadfast devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Service Details

Her Homegoing Service will be held on Friday, August 1 ^st at 11:00 a.m. in Israel of God Church W.H.A., 2017 Mead St. with her brother-in-law, Rev. George Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be in the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Israel of God Church W.H.A.
