Obituary

Racine, Wisconsin – Mother Betty Jo (nee: Slade) Ramsey entered this life March 26, 1941, in Strong, Arkansas. She was the second daughter and fourth child born to George Slade and Carrie Bell (nee: Harrison) Slade. She became absent from her body and present with the Lord on Monday, January 24, 2022.

In 1959, Betty was a graduate of Lake Village Central High School in Lake Village, Arkansas. The summer after graduation she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she worked as a nurse's aide. She would later become the owner operator of the first ever black-owned daycare in Racine, the Mother Goose Daycare Center. She retired from the University of Wisconsin Extension Food and Nutrition program where she worked as a nutrition educator teaching young mothers how to properly feed their families.

In 1960, Betty got saved at the Mount Sinai Church of God in Christ under Pastor O.C. Davis. A year later September 9, 1961, Betty was joined in marriage to George Franklin Ramsey Sr., in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and from this union came six beautiful children.

George and Betty founded Shiloh Stronghold Church of God in Christ (Racine) and pastored Rose of Sharon Deliverance Church (Milwaukee) where they served the communities and brought many to know and love the Lord Jesus Christ.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Apostle George F. Ramsey Sr.; Parents, George and Carrie Slade; brothers, George Slade, Michael Slade, and George Slade Jr. (nephew AKA Baby Junior); sisters, Florial (Johnny) Wilson, Gwen Franklin, and Marie (George) Leazer.

Left to cherish her memory are her six children:  Betty J.   Ramsey, George F. Ramsey Jr. (Pamela), Elijah D. Ramsey (former spouse Neregin), Geoffrey F. Ramsey (former spouse April), Pastor Elias D. Ramsey (Raquel), and Sarai V. Ramsey; nine grandchildren:  Elisha N.R. Ramsey, Rachael C. Ramsey, Alexander F. Ramsey, Aaron F. Ramsey, Brielle E.J. Ramsey, Elaija F.J. Ramsey, Tevin G. Ramsey, Elecia E.A. Ramsey, and Austin F. Ramsey; two great grandchildren:  Carter W. Ramsey and Cataleya R. Ramsey; one brother, Billy Slade; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, former and present church members, and many loving friends.

On Thursday, February 3, 2022, 5:00pm, the family will be a hosting A Service of Remembrance, A Time of Sharing Memories and Expressions of Love. The service will take place at Gateway Global Ministries (formerly Shiloh Church), 1836 Howe Street, Racine, Wisconsin. Attire is casual for this evening service.  The Celebration of Her Beautiful Life will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 11:00a.m. at Greater Mount Eagle Missionary Baptist Church, 929 State Street, Racine, WI.  Visitation will be in the church 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. Social distancing must be observed, and face masks are required at ALL times while inside for Thursday and Friday's service, regardless of vaccination status. Your consideration is appreciated.
