Racine – Betty Lou (Fritchen) Rousar, age 86, died on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center, Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin.  Betty was born in Racine on September 2, 1937, to Harold and Barbara (nee: Brown) Fritchen.  She graduated from Park High School in 1955 and worked as a secretary for J.I. Case, Walker Manufacturing, and later for John and Gail Madsen.   On June 22, 1957, she married Richard Rousar in Holy Communion Church by Reverend Kenneth Hurst.  They bought a house and with their young family, traveled extensively in the United States and Canada.  Once her kids were grown, Betty vacationed in Greece, saw Europe, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Betty loved quilting, sewing fancy dresses for Theodora, and making all of us placemats and table runners, even if we didn't have a table.  She was well-known for her baby quilts and for happily stitching anything from car covers to band banners.   Betty loved daisies, Starbucks, and shopping.  She loved a clean house, over-sized geraniums, and canaries, but she loved her grandkids more than anything.  She logged endless hours babysitting, attending band concerts, Soap Box Derby events, and art shows. Betty is survived and missed by her daughters, Peg (William Thompson) and Betsy; grandchildren, Blake (Allison Carey) Thompson, and Theodora Thompson; great grandchildren, Katherine, Andrew and Ella Rose; sister-in-law, Carol Fritchen; nephew and godson, Brian Fritchen; and best friend, Jonna Chiapete.  She is also survived by her cocker spaniel, Sunny.  Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Barbara Fritchen, in-laws, Margaret and William Kucera, baby sister, Margaret Ellen, brother, John Fritchen, her childhood friend, Donna Bagwell and her precious grandson, Ross Richard Thompson, and, of course, last August, her husband, Richard Rousar.

To honor and remember Betty's life, visitation will be Wednesday, April 17 ^th at 10am. at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 11am.  Interment will take place at Yorkville Cemetery in Yorkville, Wisconsin.

In memory of Betty, memorials to St. Jude's Cancer Research Hospital (in memory of her grandson, Ross) are always appreciated.

Service Details

Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 17 ^th , at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Yorkville Cemetery.
