Racine- Bonnie Lee Grissom, 59, of 4250 Hideaway Hollow, Racine, died peacefully Wednesday, June 14th, 2006, at her home in the presence of her loving family. She was born Bonnie Lee Docter in Detroit, MI on October 4, 1946 to the late Marie Docter. She graduated from Mary D Bradford High School, Kenosha, WI in 1964 and later graduated cum laude from UW-Parkside in 1985 with a degree in Communications. She married Gary Grissom of Kenosha on July 17, 1965. Bonnie has worked as a Dental Technician, Secretary, Director of Parkside's Child Care Center, and Human Resource Director. She has been a Racine resident for the last thirty-three years. Bonnie enjoyed Bible studies, movies and theater, traveling, shopping, spending time at the family lakehouse, reading, and most of all being with her family. Survivors include Gary, her husband of almost forty-one years; daughter Lynae (Randy) Wolfgram, Appleton; sons Gregory, St. Paul, MN; Jeffrey (Carrie), Franklin; grandchildren: Austin, Ethan, Matthew, Maria, Emily, and new baby (due November 2006); sister Carol Dykeman, Seattle, as well as other relatives and many friends. Bonnie was a member of Mt Pleasant Lutheran Church, a past officer in RAMAC's Human Resource Group, a member of the American Association of University Women, and was a reader for the blind on Gateway's Radio Reading Service. Funeral services honoring Bonnie's life will be held at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, 1700 S. Green Bay Rd., on Monday, June 19, 2006 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuelson officiating. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service downstairs in Fellowship Hall. Visitation will be in the funeral home, 4600 County Line Road, on Sunday, June 18th, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. In accordance with Bonnie's wishes, cremation will follow the services. Memorials may be directed to Kenosha Visiting Nurse Assn. 600 – 52nd Street, Kenosha, WI 53140. THE BROKEN CHAIN We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name, In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone, For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
