STURTEVANT – Mrs. Bonnie Lee Poikonen, 73, passed away at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center on October 2, 2013.

She was born in Sturtevant on September 26, 1940, the daughter of the late Theodore and Violena (nee: Vogelman) Hoffman.

After her husband Samuel retired, they moved to Merton, WI and owned and operated Merton Foods.  When Samuel passed away she moved back to Sturtevant to be closer to her family.  She had attended St. Sebastian Catholic Church and was once active in the Sturtevant Lions Club.

She is survived by her 4 sons, Mike Poikonen of Racine, Greg Poikonen of Madison, Brian Poikonen and Dave Poikonen both of Sturtevant;  her 5 grandchildren, Tiffany Christian of Racine, Tricia Poikonen of Union Grove, Jake, Lynsey and Zak Poikonen of Sturtevant; her brother, Theodore Hoffman of Shawano, WI; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, Samuel, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brother, Diane, Arlene, Carol, Kitty and Timothy.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the West Lawn Memorial Park chapel on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Noon for a memorial service honoring her life.  Her cremains will be interred by her husband following the service.
