Racine – Bonnie "Granny" Schacht (Murray) passed away on April 9 ^th , 2018 at Ridgewood Care Center in Racine, Wisconsin.  Born July 24, 1927, and raised in Kenosha, WI.  She was one of six children, two sisters and three brothers, to the parents George and Leonide (Barr) Murray.  As the last of the group at 90 years of age, she was still a spit fire.  In her early years she married Lawrence (Mike) Schacht and had two children, Michael Schacht and Jill Gould (Skip Gdisis) which later gave rise to four grandchildren, Brett Schacht, Joe (Chris) Gould, Gina (Jason) Peek and Andy (Christie) Gould, eight great granddaughters, Stephanie and Kelsey Schacht, Marly and Emerly Gould, Jenkins and Hampton Peek, and Joelle and Gracie Gould.  Granny spent much of her life as a homemaker, taking care of everyone and making sure they were fed by her amazing cooking.  Among her mothering tendencies came a variety of hobbies which included making dolls, shell-themed home-decor, and sewing.  Granny and Gramps spent time RV traveling during later years along with warm summers in their Florida home.  One of her many talents was her wit.  She never failed to liven a room with a quick remark to someone.  She also loved her Scottish ancestry and her family, The clan 'Murray'.  You could see that joy when her dream of hearing bagpipes perform was fulfilled at her 90 ^th birthday party.  She spent her days enjoying the little things that being a mother, wife, grandmother, and even great grandmother entailed.  A wonderful life in which she expressed her love for many things, especially cats and dolls, but most of all her family.  She was like the wind and the sun, so powerful in nature, but bright in her soul. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters and husband, Mike.

Public visitation will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. A brief service of remembrance will take place at 1:30 pm. Entombment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Thank you to all her caretakers who loved her and took such great care, beginning at Becker Shoop and ending at Ridgewood. Special thanks to grandson Joe Gould for ALWAYS being there for granny and gramps!

It was a weary day in the universe losing her to the earth,

a loss that cannot be recouped.

The wind had carried her away and spread her among the wildflowers.

While she stretched the ends of her finger tips toward the sky

Flying, miles

Back to the clouds that once kissed her down many years before

Sadly the earth did not know how to react, how to fathom what had come

What a being to see in all her magnificence.

The stems of those opened petals fluttered at the sound of her voice

That emanated from the depths beneath;

In a place enveloping

Even darkness has arms

Embracing Now.

Maybe it's time to go

But in the distance a thudding appeared.

Metal on metal, thrashing hard against the chilled air

In between the crashes was a silence.

It filled moments when the earth was still asleep

The sun an alarm clock

Birds can't even sing.

But as that golden ring rises

The sky begins to pull itself together

Almost as if it had never been apart.

And in that moment the universe had skipped

Because she had gone much like the darkness eradicated by the dawn

Her light, peeking through a frosted window on that glass passenger train

Bringing him home.
