Boyce Venson was born to be a Servant. He was a protective brother, loving friend and comedic relief amongst anyone he encountered. Boyce was born to the late Ellis and Mary G.(Rogers) Venson on January 17th, 1949, in Blue Mountain, MS. He was the oldest of six children. He later moved to Racine, WI in 1953, where he would spend the rest of his life.

Upon graduating from Washington Park High school in 1968, Boyce enlisted himself in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era from 1969-1973. He completed military basic training at Lackland Air Force in San Antonio TX. After basic training he was deployed to Italy and spent his service in the military post office. During his time as an US Airman, he earned the rank of Sergeant. He continued serving his country as a CNA for the Veterans Administration where he later retired in 2014.

Boyce was an avid dog lover and bred a variety of breeds of dogs. Throughout his years of working and breeding dogs he met and quickly became a loved friend to many. Rev. David Green was one of his closest friends and Pastor. Boyce’s willing heart, loyalty and generosity led him to become a Trustee and Pastor Green’s Armor Bearer of Gregg Chapel CME Church in Racine, where he served for 18 years.

Boyce was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, brother Daniel Venson, sisters Linda Barker and sister Peggy Campbell.

He leaves to cherish his memory; Siblings Barbara Davis, Ricky Venson (Deborah) and Jeanine Venson. Brother in Laws, Hubert Barker and Jerry Campbell Sr. Aunt, Verlene Penn. Nieces and Nephews, Jerrell Allen, Andrea Smith (Charles), Jerry Campbell Jr. (Lacresha), Kyla Campbell, and William Cannon (Rachel). Six Great-Nieces and Nephews, Samuel III, Suli, Charles Jr., Marquis, Wolf and Valentina; best friend and confidant Rev. David Green, pastor. Host of cousins.

Psalms 121:1,2

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

  1. Reverend David R. Green says

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Boyce was a great friend who had gone through some things in life that were sometimes stumbling blocks. He was one who cared about his family and would help them in any way he could. Although he was not one to open up to everyone and was sometimes misunderstood, he had a heart of gold. He served Gregg Chapel CME as a Trustee and Armor Bearer for the Pastor for the last 18years, on February 15th, 2026, he was made “Emeritus Trustee” for his many years of faithful service to the Trustee Board. He helped the Pastor collect and deliver needed items to the vulnerable population and was the Pastor’s helper in delivering needed items to Repairs of the Breach in Milwaukee and Halo in Racine. Boyce had a calling and a heart to help others in need. Family, I want you to know that Boyce had his bag packed and ready to go to his eternal home. He showed real courage and was not afraid of his eternity. He and I talked about that many times. Family, the best way for you to remember and honor his memory, is to love and care for one another. If one falls down…lift them back up. He was a true pillar at Gregg Chapel, and we will certainly miss him, he faithful, loving, and kind. He had a wonderful testimony. When our bodies get frail and weak on this side, God has a prepared place for his prepared people. Brother Boyce we will miss you but thank God we had you in our lives on this side of the journey. God’s blessing to all of Boyce’s family and friends. I uplift you in prayer!
