Obituary

Brenda Ann Meeks (adorably called BaeBae by family and friends) age 54, was born April 5, 1963 to the late Lanzy and Gladys (nee: Chones) Meeks in Racine, Wisconsin. On Monday, December 18, 2017, she made her transition from life to eternal life at her residence surrounded by her family in Hopkins, Minnesota.

BaeBae was educated in the Racine Unified School District and graduated from J. I. Case High School in 1980. After graduation, she attended Gateway Technical College and received her Associate Degree in Accounting.  She was employed by Neighborhood Housing Services of Southeast Wisconsin, before relocating to Hopkins, Minnesota in 2005.  While residing in Hopkins Minnesota she attended Faith Tabernacle Gospel Fellowship Church and was employed by Wells Fargo Home Bank, Incorporated as a Loan Service Specialist III until her health began to fail.

BaeBae's enjoyments were interacting with her precious grandchildren by baking, doing arts and craft projects, attending their sporting events, and just spending a lot of time with them on a regular basis. She also enjoyed spending time listening to elderly or any family members reminiscing about family history.  Other enjoyments were listening to gospel music, playing games on the computer, and watching her favorite television shows.

To cherish her memories, she leaves her daughter Dominque Meeks, son Jerome Meeks, her precious grandchildren Rico Walls, Marcel Walls, and Kingston Walls all of Hopkins, Minnesota. Three siblings, Gwendolyn (Cecil) Barker of Phoenix, Arizona, Lanzy (Vicky) Meeks of Atlanta, Georgia, and Barbara (Marvin) Gilleylen Sr. of Kalamazoo, Michigan, nieces; Jalisa (Quinton) Bibbs, Yasmine Meeks and Britney Orr, nephews; Corey Meeks, Shavon (Stephany) Barker, Maurice Barker, Chason (Shantay) Tye, Marvin Gilleylen Jr., Darien Gilleylen , great nieces, great nephews, and a host of relatives and friends including good friends, Cheryl Billups and Felecia Boyd. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandmother Irene (nee: Judon) Robbins, grandfathers Dee Chones and Fred Robbins, niece Latoya Denise Gilleylen and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and love ones who had an impact on her life.

The celebration of her life will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Curtis L. Doss officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.

Viewing: in the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon
