~~    Carolyn was born in Peplin, WI, in 1914, the daughter of Polish immigrants, John and Catherine (nee: Pelzar) Kielar.  After 99 years of simple and humorous living, she left us to reunite with her loved ones in Heaven on November 19, 2013.
She was a devout Catholic who graduated from Holy Name School, worked at Snyder’s Dime Store, Lange’s Pharmacy and J.I Case. Carolyn married Lester Malmstadt in 1934 and was a loving homemaker and mother to their four children. Lester preceded her in death in 1962. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, bowling, accordion music and dancing.  In 1970, she married her longtime friend, Wayne Bung and they lived in St. Petersburg, Florida from 1975-1994.  He preceded her in death in 2006.  She experienced life as it should be.  Her quirky personality and sassy fun ways will be fondly remembered by all of us.
She cherished her children, Carol (Rudy) Haluska of Racine, Dennis Malmstadt (Sandra Date) Susan (Tedd Runge) Malmstadt of Loveland, CO, Trish Malmstadt of Racine. She leaves a large family of 10 grandchildren: Steve, Tere, Lindsay, Laurie, Carissa, Leslie, Christopher, Carolyn, Michael and Andy. Her 15 great-grandchildren, Carissa, Matthew, Jeremy, Katie, Mike Amber, Jami, Mindi, Andrew, Blake, Sabin, Max, Ethan, Joey, and Leah brought her much joy. Her great-great grandchildren; Kelsie, Logan, Mason, Sadie, Seth, Jaxon Camille, and Silas were the happy additions to her family tree. Carolyn has two stepchildren, Jerry (Dorothy) Bung of Fairhope, AL, and Arliss (Robert) Albrecht of Mt. Pleasant. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dennis Malmstadt, brothers, John Kielar and Frank (Anna) Kielar, and her sisters, Ann (Joseph) Balcer and Sophie (John) Leszczynski and grandson, Michael May.
Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, November 24th from 10:30 to 12:30 with a service to follow officiated by Rev. Mark R. Jones. Carolyn will be laid to rest next to her husband, Lester, in Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32, on Monday, November 25th at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.  The family has suggested memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church or St. Monica’s Senior Assisted Living or American Diabetes Association.
