With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Chala Davis-Bell, who left this world on July 15, 2025, at the young age of 37. Born on February 27, 1988, Chala was a radiant soul whose vibrant laughter and joyous spirit lit up every room she entered. She was the definition of fun, an outgoing beacon of life who touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Chala's love for adventure often took her to tropical areas like the sun-kissed shores of Miami, where she found solace in the ocean's embrace and joy in the warmth of the sun. Some of her treasured hours by the shore were woven with the laughter of her beloved daughter, Jurneii. A dreamer at heart, she held aspirations of soaring through the skies as a pilot-an ambition that reflected her free spirit and love for exploration.

Her passion for photography allowed her to capture not just images, but the essence of moments that mattered. As she pursued classes at MATC, she poured her heart into learning the art of telling stories through her lens. Chala had an eye for beauty and a gift for making the ordinary extraordinary.

A culinary artist in her own right, Chala's heartwarming baked mac and cheese became a beloved staple at gatherings, where she would bring people together around the table-the ultimate life of the party, forever the center of attention. She had a flair for fashion, always dressed to impress, exuding confidence and grace.

Chala found strength in her faith, nurtured by the loving guidance of her grandmother, Pastor Mary Lee Gray. Her connection to the divine was a source of comfort and purpose, enriching her life and the lives of those who were fortunate enough to witness her journey.

Chala is survived by her daughter, Jurneii Sims; devoted mother, Sharon McCall, who cherishes the memories of her daughter's bright spirit and unwavering love; father, Kenneth Bell, Sr.; step-father, Darnell McCall; brothers, Kenneth (Chantel Gandy) Bell, Jr.; special brother, Derrick McGlorn; special sister, Starr Boyd; aunts and uncles, Christopher (Amber) Davis, Christina (Charles Sanders) Davis, Michael (Carleen) Davis, Nicole Davis, Sheri (Eddie) Billups, Michael Bell, Jonathan (Missy) Bell, Dexter Bell, Stanley (Pat) Bell, Valerie (Antonio) Tucker, Rebecca Hamilton, Stephanie (Tyrone) Coburn; very close cousin, Winisha Mitchell; good friends, Deja Bradley, Kimonique "Nikki" Jackson; other cousins, relatives, and friends too numerous to mention.

Chala is preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Pastor Mary Lee Gray, George and Mary Ann (nee: Davis) Jackson, Hubert and Barbara Bell; brother, Kendall "Alex" Bell; uncle, Hubert Bell, Jr.; and aunt, Susie Davis.

The celebration of Chala's life will be held with heartfelt reverence. Her family invites you to gather in love and remembrance, to honor the joy she brought into our lives, where we will come together to reflect on her remarkable life, to share stories, and to find solace in each other's company. The celebration will take place on Friday, July 25, 2025, 11:00am, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1120 Grand Avenue, with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.

As we celebrate Chala's life, let us carry her joyful spirit in our hearts, holding on to the laughter and love she so freely shared. She may have departed from our sight, but her light will forever guide us.
