Mr. Boyd, 60, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Monday, March 13, 2006. He was born in Ripley, MS, on October 14, 1945, the son of the late Jimmy and Zenola (nee: Simmons) Boyd. On July 7, 1972, here in Racine, he was united in marriage to the former Irma L. Wicks. He had been employed by Daimler Chrysler for over 30 years, retiring on Sept. 30, 2000. Mr. Boyd was a faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Boyd was a retiree of UAW Local 72 and the Daimler Chrysler 20 Year Club. He enjoyed working in his garden, cooking, having his morning coffee with the guys at the corner of 6th and Marquette. tinkering with cars, and was known as the neighborhood "Mr. Fix-it". He Greatest loves were; his God, his family and children. Surviving are his beloved wife Irma, their children, Clifford Garner, of Milwaukee, Felecia Boyd, Charles Boyd Jr., Tasha Canada, and Brittany Boyd all of Racine; 7 grandchildren, Clifford Jr, Sade, Briasia, Tanea, Ramiayh, Caden and Brianna; his brothers, Jimmy (Armida) Boyd, Curtis (Mary) Boyd all of Chicago, Billy (Dyan) Boyd of Racine; sisters, Onnie Caldwell, Lavora (James) Johnson, Geraldine Griffin, Johnnie Ruth (Frank) Fortier all of Justin, IL; Bobbie Jean Boyd of Chicago, IL,; sisters-in-law Mary (James) Hargrove and Shirley (Sylvester) McClain all of Racine, his childhood friend Larry Jones of Chicago; special friends, Ricky Moore, Lawrence Mack, Genrty Davidson, and Dan Burns, his Godmother Johnnie Simmons, all of Racine, His nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Justine Johnson and Eloise Boyd; special 2 nephews and a niece Michael Hargrove, Elijah Griffin and Tanya Griffin. Homegoing Services will be held on Saturday, March 18th, at 10:00 in the Second Missionary Baptist Church, 1250 Lathrop Ave., with Rev. Daryn D. Crenshaw officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park.
