
RACINE – Char Johnson, 78, died at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints and transitioned to her new life with God on Saturday, June 9, 2007. A lifelong resident, she was born in Racine on September 28, 1928 to the late Edward and Agnes (nee: Swenson) Ross. She graduated from Washington Park High School in 1946. Char worked for In-Sink-Erator for 22 years, retiring in 1989. She was a lifetime member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church and was formerly active with Parents Without Partners in Racine. Char enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and bingo. She also loved the time spent with her family. Her survivors include her daughters, Rogene Katt and Ruth Johnson of Racine; grandson, Ted (fiancée, Jaylene) Katt of Henderson, NV; sister, Virginia (Joe) Nelson; brother, Willard (Ellen) Ross both of Racine; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn Ross of Kenosha, Kay Ross and Alex Jurkiewicz both of Racine; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents; Char was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Roxanne; sister, Dorothy Jurkiewicz and brothers, Gordon, Vernon and Kenneth Ross. A service celebrating Char’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at noon. Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family has asked that flowers or plants not be sent. There will be a visitation in the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A very special thank you to the staff at All Saints ICU for the professional and loving care Char received during her stay. Her family is very grateful.
