RACINE – Mr. Christopher Cosmo Candido, 71, passed away at Ascension All Saints on Sunday, June 4, 2017.
He was born in Tyler, PA on June 23, 1945, the son of the late Joseph and Veronica (nee: Foster) Candido. He grew up in Niagra Falls, NY. After high school, was drafted into the US Army and served two tours in Vietnam as a member of the Green Berets and as a paratrooper of the 82 nd Airborne All American Rangers, 173 rd Airborne and Screaming Eagles.
After returning home, Christopher worked for JI Case until his retirement in 1994. He continued working for another 17 years as a bus driver for Belle Urban System.
On June 18, 1993 he married Maria L. Churchija.
Christopher attended Jubilee Christian Family Church in Franklin. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, barbeques and wine making. However, he was happiest when he was in the company of his family.
In addition to his loving wife, Maria, he is survived by his children, Vincent Candido, Brian (Renee) Candido, Teri (Jason) Leal, Lisa (Jason) Hempel, Angelique (Jim) Gardiner, Crystal Churchija all of Racine; his grandchildren, Trina, Robert, Marissa, Vincent, Jr., Devin, Brianna, Jacqueline, D.J., Tony, Serena, Farrah, Ryan, Sean and Ian; his great grandchildren, Jaden and Nova; his sisters, Judy Collins, Linda (Joe) Moran, Rose Mary (Steve) Conte, Terri (John) McDonald and Peggy Candido-Halliday; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to meet at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel (21731 Spring St, Union Grove, WI 53182) on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. for a memorial service with military honors.
