Clifford Bengston

Dec 29, 1923 – Aug 7, 2007

Clifford Bengston, 83, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Cliff was born in Ishpeming, MI on Dec. 29, 1923, the son of the late August and Alice (nee: Gill) Bengston. On October 23, 1948, he was united in marriage to the former Doris Fedder in Racine, WI. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force with the 44th Bombardier Squadron. Cliff had been employed by the Journal Times for over 36 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of Christ Church United Methodist and the Journal Times 20 Year Club. Cliff was an avid golfer and bowler, participating in several leagues. He was the kind of person who really took the time to know people for who they were. Above all else, his family came first. Surviving are his wife, of nearly 59 years, Doris; their children, Marlene (Gary) Skovsted of Boulder, CO, Mark (Theresa) Bengston of Muskego, WI, and Miles (Mary) Bengston of Racine; Grandchildren Eric (Mary) Skovsted, Sonja Skovsted, Benjamin Bengston, Andrea Bengston, and Amber Bengston. His nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many, many great friends also survive him. His Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, August 11th, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mary Council-Austin officiating. Relatives and friends can meet with the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Service. Private inurnment, with full military honors will be in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery. In honor of Cliff’s life, it is requested that friends and family spend special time with a loved one enjoying the outdoors, each other…and of course, laughing. Additionally, and if so inclined, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.

Testimonials

October 9, 2020

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family

Theresa Lynn Carls
