Spring Hill, FL – Clifford Roman Berres, age 85, passed away at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida on Saturday, November 10, 2012.

Clifford was born in Milwaukee, WI on February 8, 1927 to the late Roman and Josephine (nee: Braun) Berres. He graduated from Athens High School in 1944. Cliff faithfully served our Country with the United States Navy in WWII from 1945-46. Upon returning home from the service, he went on to graduate from Marquette University in 1953 and attained his Master's Degree in Chemistry from Marquette in 1958. Cliff had a 36-year career as a chemist with SC Johnson, retiring in 1989.

On December 27, 1952 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church (Athens, WI) Cliff was united in marriage with the love of his life, Frances  (nee: Kutchenriter). They made Racine their home for 36 years before retiring to Spring Hill, FL in 1993. They loved spending summers at their cottage in Pickerel, WI on Lake Arbutus.

While in Racine, he was a member of St. Lucy and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Parishes. In Florida, he was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Among his interests, he enjoyed woodworking, square dancing, ballroom dancing, traveling, and he always looked forward to visits from children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Frances; their children, Mark (Jeanne) Berres of Piedmont, CA; Sharon (Chris) Hansen of Racine; and Gregg (Lorre) Berres of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren, Evan and Mathew Berres; sister-in-law, Ida Kutchenriter; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cliff was preceded in death by his brother, Oliver (Marge) Berres; brothers-in-law, Donald (Valerie) and Bernard Kutchenriter; and sisters-in-law, Winifred (Raymond) Schertz, Mary (Gordie) Cornett and Bernice (Francis) Stevens.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:00 am in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, with Rev. William J. Dietzler officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Visitation will be in the church prior to the Mass from 9:00 – 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association or the charity of one's choice have been suggested.
