Clyde "Kit" Planet Canman, born in St. Louis, MO on January 1, 1938, passed away at his residence in Franksville, WI on April 23, 2022, with his family by his side. Orphaned at a young age, Kit worked as a farm hand putting himself through college at UW Lacrosse eventually earning his Masters degree at St. Louis University in Illinois. He was a life-long educator who began teaching English in Holmen, WI, then moved to Racine to teach English, Speech, and Drama at Washington Junior High School, transferring to Horlick High School where he taught English for nearly 30 years ending his career as department chair. Kit was married to his wife, Mary Jane, for 52 years, was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Racine, played in numerous card groups, and refereed many cherry pit spitting contests for his grandchildren. Kit had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed reading, traveling, theater, music, running, playing cards, taking numerous canine companions to the dog run, being with his family, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. After living his teen years on a farm in Sparta, WI, he also had a green thumb and a deep love for animals.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis P and Carrie (Wood) Canman, sister Eileen (Clarence) Heasty, brother Allen (Dorothy) Canman, brother Louis P (Janet) Canman, sister Kay (Ron) Redmon, and sister Dorothy (Elmer) Heinzer. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; daughters, Dr. Julie Canman of New York, NY and Suzanne (Tim) Canady of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren, Louis P Canady and Caroline Canady; numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved beagle, Homer. Service Details

A celebration of his life will be held at the Lutheran of Church the Resurrection, 322 Ohio St. at 12 Noon on Saturday, April 30 ^th . Visitation Church will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The service will be live streamed at the following link:
