Racine – Colleen Renee Gerou, age 57, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, October 7, 2021, following a valiant & courageous battle with cancer.

Colleen was born in Racine on May 25, 1964, to the late Cliff Gerou and Joanne (nee: Amos) Dickman. She was a 1982 graduate of JI Case High School. In Milwaukee in 2014, Colleen was united in marriage with the love of her life, Cynthia Dondlinger. They lived in Racine until retiring to Sun City, AZ just 5 months ago.

During her working career, Colleen did clerical and accounting work for various companies including Ace Stamping, Johnson Diversey, UNCO Inc., and Master Lock. After leaving the corporate world, Colleen took great pride in being a caretaker.  She became very close to her clients during this time and was considered an angel by the families of those she cared for.  Among her interests, Colleen enjoyed dancing, decorating, gardening, fishing, traveling, camping, and keeping a spotless and beautiful home. She had a great affection for angels and had strong faith and love for the Lord. Above all, she loved & cherished spending time with her entire family and large circle of friends. Colleen brought out the best in all of us, and she will be missed deeply.

Surviving are her loving wife, Cindi; beloved daughter, Crystal (Dennis) Wenzel; adored grandchildren of whom affectionately called her “Glamma”, Chloe, Nadia, and Manny Wenzel; brothers & sister, Dean Dickman (Sarah Schmidt), Rhonda (Christopher) Winkler, Shane (Susan) Dickman and Cliff (Joanne) Gerou; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

Colleen was greeted in Heaven by her father, Cliff Gerou; mom, Joanne Dickman; Dear Old Dad, Royce Dickman; Cindi’s parents, Pete & Carol Dondlinger; and by brothers-in-law, Timothy & Keeker Dondlinger.

A memorial service celebrating Colleen’s wonderful life will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 12:00 noon in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Dickie’s Bar.   Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday 10:00 am – 12:00 noon.

A heartfelt note of thanks to all of our family & friends who supported Colleen with visits, calls, food, cards, love, and well wishes during her brave journey with cancer. Colleen would want us to especially thank Cheryl (Missy) Janke and Geno Haggan for the special blessing of flying her back to Racine so that she could spend her final days with her family. Lastly, special thanks to Hospice of the Valley – Arizona and Aurora at Home Hospice – Racine for the compassionate care & support given in Colleen’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

Testimonials

Lisa Burczyk

My husband, Tom, died on Jan. 24, 2015. From that life-changing day and still now, Gary and his sons have been at my side taking care of me, advising me, and guiding me with their sensitive, caring, and efficient expertise. I have heard from friends and family how perfect and wonderful the funeral service was (it was a blur for me), and I have the beautiful obit, memorial booklets, CD rom of slide show, celebration candle, portrait, and even personalized thank you cards to provide memories and comfort during difficult days ahead. My heart is full of thanks and appreciation to Gary Langendorf and his entire family.
