Cora Ellen
Terrell
Nov 14, 1939 — Aug 25, 2018
Racine – Cora Ellen Terrell was born on November 14, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the fifth child born to the union of Reverend Webster B. Terrell, Sr. and Sadie M. Terrell. Cora received her schooling in the Detroit Public schools and graduated from Central High School in 1958. Later, she received an Associate Degree from Wayne County Community College.
Cora was baptized into the membership of Second Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan at an early age. However, she truly accepted Jesus as her Savior while in her early twenties. Cora worked at a variety of jobs for over thirty years. She worked at the iconic J. L. Hudson's Department store in Detroit and at the Jewish Community Center in Southfield, Michigan. She served as a nursing assistant at Henry Ford Hospital, as a private duty caregiver, and as a paraprofessional in charge of special needs students for the Detroit Public Schools
In 1985, Cora became a founding member of Christ the Lord Christian Center in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan. While at Christ the Lord, Cora served as a choir member, Food Ministry worker, a greeter, a VBS Craft Assistant, a cleaning supervisor, and a Bible Club worker. She took great delight in serving the Lord in each of these endeavors. In addition, she never missed attending Adult Sunday School Class, worship services, weekly prayer meetings and bible studies, as well as special weekly training classes.
After her retirement, Cora experienced a series of illnesses which eventually necessitated her having to move to Racine, Wisconsin to live near her daughter, Anika Terrell. Cora lived in Racine with Anika for nine years. During that time, she joined Immanuel Baptist Church and continued to grow in grace and in the knowledge of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In April 2018, Cora's health began to decline after a series of illnesses. On Saturday, August 25, 2018, Cora slipped peacefully into the waiting arms of her Savoir, Jesus Christ. Cora leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory her devoted daughter Anika Terrell; her loving sister Alice Merck; a number of caring nephews, nieces; a concerned church family and many other relatives.
