Cruz Manley

May 2, 1925 – Aug 28, 2011

     Mrs. Cruz P. Manley, 86, passed away in Ridgewood Health Care Center on Sunday, August 28, 2011. She was born in Petronilla, TX on May 2, 1925, the daughter of the late Mamerto and Angelita (nee: Castellano) Perez. She moved to Racine in June of 1956.

     Mrs. Manley had been employed by Western Publishing for over 30 years. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Manley was well known for authentic Mexican cooking. She especially enjoyed making homemade tortillas for her grandchildren.

     Surviving are her children, Tim Basaldua, of Chicago, Charlie (Annette) Basaldua, of Racine, Robert (Sharon) Basaldua, of Mukwonago, and Mark (Maria) Basaldua, of Racine; grandchildren, Chris (Troy) Erhardt, Cyndi Listrom, Tricia ( fiancé, Jacinto Valdivia) Basaldua, Dave (Adela) Rashleger, Tammi Basaldua, Charlie Basaldua, Michelle Landess, Jennifer (Jayme) Longfellow, Eric (fiancée, Kara Mueller) Basaldua, Jessica Basaldua, Tim (fiancée, Dana Lang) Basaldua, and Anna Basaldua; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Mamerto (Ido) Perez, of Robstown, TX, Gilbert (Juana) Perez, of Racine; sister, Janie Kotten, in California; son-in-law, Dave (Theresa) Rashleger, of Milwaukee. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Tim Basaldua, and Leo Manley; daughter, Rebecca Rashleger; brother, Tony Perez; sisters, Adelina Perez, and Ninfa (Odelio) Calderon; and sister-in-law, Bea Perez.   

      Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 1st, at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Park. The family has suggested memorials to Sacred Heart Parish or the American Heart Association.
