RACINE – Daniel L. Barron, Sr. 76, passed away at Ascension All Saints on Friday, May 12, 2017.
He was born in Mathis, TX on July 21, 1940, the son of the late Manuel and Diamantina (nee: Estrada) Barron, Sr. He served his nation with the US Army from 1959-62. On August 19, 1963, he married Gertrude Benavidez at St. Anthony Church in Robstown, TX.
After the wedding they moved to Racine and began his long employment with JI Case. He served almost 30 years before his retirement. Daniel enjoyed being in the company of his loving family and friends, carpentry and vegetable and flower gardening. He also enjoyed attending Apostolic Faith Church in Racine.
In addition to his wife, Gertrude, he is survived by his children, Daniel (fiancée, Brenda Moore) Barron, Jr. of Racine, Ronald (Debra) Barron of Franksville, Deborah (David Seest) Barron of Columbus, IN, Sondra Barron-Ayala of Racine; his grandchildren, Sarah Barron, Nicole Barron, Holly Barron, Alissa (fiancé, Jake Ferraro) Barron, Edgar "E.J." Ayala, Jr.; his great granddaughter, Blaike Drea; his siblings, Ann Flores of Texas City, TX, Dora Lee (Bobby) Ortiz of Robstown, TX, Diana Romero of Corpus Christi, TX; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Manuel (Heidi) Barron, Jr., Frank Barron and Mary Helen (Hector) Hernandez.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday evening for a visitation from 5-8 p.m. The celebration of his life and funeral service will take place with military honors on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Schumacher officiating. There will also be a visitation in the funeral home Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. Interment will take place in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to the American Kidney Foundation.
The Barron family extends a heartfelt thank you to DaVita Harbor and Ascension All Saints (ICU); especially Gary for the excellent care Daniel received from their staff.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 16, 2017 – 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, May 17, 2017 – 11:00 a.m.
There will also be a visitation on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Everything will take place at the funeral home
