Darlene Dorothy
Potter
Jul 28, 1939 — Sep 26, 2022
Darlene Dorothy Potter, 83, joined her husband Roger in heaven surrounded by her loving family on Monday September 26, 2022 at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI. Darlene was born in Lancaster, WI to George and Martha (Rauch) Kitelinger on July 28, 1939 and was a graduate of Cassville High School. She was joined in marriage to Roger Neils Potter on February 16, 1957 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Cassville, WI and they later moved to Sturtevant, WI to raise their family.
Darlene was full of spunk with a wonderful sense of humor who particularly loved her family, friends, and any person she met. She was a homemaker, famous for her cooking where a family dinner might include her famous macaroni and cheese, homemade soups, clove chicken, potato pancakes, taco salad or fondue. Her table was always set waiting for friends and family to stop, and all the children will remember Darlene's candy drawer which was continuously filled. Just a few of her many hobbies included hosting large family picnics, playing games, camping, and traveling. Darlene was a very faith filled woman who loved her church, St. Sebastian in Sturtevant, WI and was a participant and volunteer in the Cursillo movement for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee for over 30 years. She committed most of her life to volunteerism through the church, caring for the elderly and supporting those in the hospital. Her favorite task was talking to the patients and making them comfortable.
She is survived by her children: Brad Potter, Becky (Mark) Kroes, Christie (Paul) Johansen, Daughter-in-Law Aimee Potter, Todd (Jill) Potter, Russell Potter, Jerry (Teresa) Potter. Grandchildren: Roger Potter, Amanda Obermeyer (Kristopher Kolb), Dawn (Matt) Ferry, Kyle and Erin Johansen, Morgan (Connor) Kotula, Tyler and Brenna Potter, Evan Potter, Robert LaSchiava, Josh (Veronica) Potter, Matthew (Samatha) Gitter, Jessica and Justin (Valeria) Potter. Great grandchildren, Leanne and Jacob Potter, Mason and Markus Obermeyer, Paige Ferry, Raiden and Brinley Kotula, Julian LaSchiava, Domanik and Skylur Sellers, Ryker and Teo Potter, Edalynn Gitter, Ryley Potter. Sister-in-laws: Donna Grassl and Shirley Kitelinger. Many nieces and nephews, especially her late sister's girls Amy Knapp, Lori Gustafson, Lisa Klahn, and Kathy Dean. Many loving friends, too many to mention but she loved them all.
Darlene was proceeded in death by her husband Roger, her son Randy, her parents Martha and George Kitelinger, her brothers, Mark, George and Leo Kitelinger and her sisters Iola Welch, Julia (Judy) Tigges and Phyllis Klahn.
Special thanks to the many doctors, nurses, physical therapists and care givers who have been there for Darlene over the years during her hospital visits and home care.
Friends and family are invited to meet at St. Sebastian Church (3126 95 th St in Sturtevant, WI) on Monday, October 3, 2022, for visitation from 3-5 p.m. The celebration of her life and funeral Mass will follow at 5:00 p.m. A private internment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in remembrance of Darlene can be made to St. Sebastian Catholic Church or Aurora Zilber Family Hospice.
