Obituary

Darrell N. Murphy, 85, received the promise of eternal life and passed away in his home on Monday, November 30, 2020.  He was born and raised in Racine, son of the late Norbert and Myrtle (Houdek-Née: Kaestner) Murphy.

Darrell was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Marylyn Kottal on December 26, 1959 and celebrated over 60 years with Christin loving hearts.

Darrell proudly and faithfully served in the United States Navy with the SeaBees for 8 years.  He worked and retired from SC Johnson Wax for over 25 years. He enjoyed retirement, painting, and fishing.  He won the Salmon A-Rama in 2006 Big One Contest.  He enjoyed gardening and his peach and apple trees.

Darrell was a considered as a great father and grandfather.  He was a superhero.  He was always there for them and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer.  He managed his 4 years of illness with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time being with his loved ones who he loved more than anything.

Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Marylyn, his children, Michael (Karen) Murphy, Shawn Murphy, Michele Murphy, Kristie (Mike) Usa; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Karen Nelson; sisters-in-law, Janet, Kathy, Pattie and Rosie; brother-in-law,  Donnie; and other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

Darrell is preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle; father, Norbert; mother-in-law, Enola; father-in-law Emil; brother-in-law, Richard Nelson; and other friends.

T he family would like to extend a heart-felt "Thank You" to daughter, Kristie; grandson, Daniel; Allay Home & Hospice; and Froedtert for the loving care and treatment.   The family would also like to thank everyone for their calls, thoughts, and prayers during this time of bereavement.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Froedtert Cancer Center and The Medical College of Wisconsin or to his loving wife for her future care.

Service Details

A private service for Darrell's family is planned.  Interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park
