RACINE – David Owen Evans, 60, passed away peacefully at his home on April 8, 2018.

David was born in Berlin, Wis. on June 26, 1957 to Owen P. and Phyllis M. (nee: Melby) Evans. He moved to Racine with his family in 1970.

A 1976 graduate of Washington Park High School, David immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country for nearly nine years, four of which in Korea. He was also employed by Racine Unified School District for 20 years prior to his retirement in 2014.

David loved his family most of all. He always enjoyed gathering for sporting events, vacations in the Northwoods and cookouts in the backyard. He will be forever remembered for the sparkle in his eyes and his compassion for others. David's gentle spirit will be greatly missed.

David was preceded in death by his father, Owen. He is survived by his mother Phyllis; sister Susan Evans and brother John (Leanne) Evans, all of Racine; nephews Jacob (Kayla) Evans and Ian ( fiancée Andrea Gonzales) Evans and niece Anna (Alexander Hahn) Evans; grand-nephew Owen Pierce Evans II; daughter Christina; grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home for a visitation on Saturday (A WEEK FROM THIS SATURDAY) , April 21, 2018 from noon-1 p.m., followed by a service with military honors in celebration of David's life. Memorials suggested to a charity of your choice.
