David A. Henry, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 9, 2026. He was born May 10, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to David H. and Grace (née Calmeyer) Henry. His family moved to the Racine/Kenosha area in 1951, where Dave spent the rest of his life.

Dave graduated from Racine Park High School in 1960, where he played three years of varsity baseball. He went on to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

After college, Dave served six years in the United States Army National Guard, proudly attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. His professional career included positions at J.I. Case, Modine Manufacturing, and Western Publishing before he found his calling at A&E Manufacturing Company. He retired in 2004 after 31 years with A&E, the last years serving as Vice President of Sales. His work gave him the opportunity to travel throughout the world.

In 1974, Dave married his best friend and great love, Ann (née Michalke) . Together they raised their daughters, Caroline and Rachel, and built a life filled with family, friendship, and adventure. Dave and Ann often said that, together, there was nothing they couldn't accomplish. He and Ann especially enjoyed the twelve years they spent owning a second home on the Chippewa Flowage in northern Wisconsin. Dave proudly estimated that he caught and released more than 3,000 fish on the "Big Chip."

One of Dave's greatest joys was being a grandfather, known affectionately as "Poppie." He and Ann were actively involved with their three grandchildren, cheering them on at baseball and basketball games, tennis matches, plays and dance recitals. Family trips to Hayward and Eagle River gave Dave many opportunities to share his love of fishing and boating with his sons-in-law and his grandchildren.

Dave and his mother were lifelong Chicago Bears fans, despite the rest of the family's allegiance to the Green Bay Packers. The entire family shared a love of the Milwaukee Brewers. Dave enjoyed reading, traveling, bridge, poker, fishing, hunting and golf. He was a longtime member of Kenosha Country Club.

Near and dear to his heart were his lifelong friendships he shared with his TKE fraternity brothers and wives. They often gathered at various locations for golf and camaraderie. Dave treasured his 40+ year friendships with his poker club buddies, who were like brothers to him. Their trips together were always a highlight of each year, filled with mischief, laughter, and practical jokes that resulted in hilarious stories.

Dave will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother-in-law and friend. He rarely had a negative thing to say about anyone or anything. He loved life and lived it well.

Dave is survived by Ann, his wife of 51 years, daughters Caroline (Mark) and Rachel (John) and grandchildren Audrey, Claudia, and Luke.

The family would like to thank the Racine/Kenosha Aurora Home Hospice team, especially his nurse Jennie and his aide Claudia. His private caregiver, Alma, was another angel who provided him with excellent care.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Racine, Wisconsin, followed by a funeral Mass at 4:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will immediately follow, with the location to be announced.
