Somers- David Clarence Riedel, 72, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center.

David was born in Racine on June 25, 1939 to the late Clarence and Helen (nee: Kralicek) Riedel. A graduate of St. Catherine's High School, he went on to vocational school to master the trade of the shoe industry.

On June 30, 1962 in St. Edward Catholic Church, Dave was united in marriage with the love of his life, Madelyn "Maddy" (nee: Redmond) Riedel, who preceded him in death on July 20, 2008.

Dave owned and operated Kendall's Shoes in Kenosha from 1968 – 1985 and Healthcare Orthopedic Footwear in Sturtevant from 1985 – 1990. Following, Dave went on to join the Rogan family at Rogan's Shoes on Highway 50 for the past 20 years.

He was a member of the Kenosha Chamber of Commerce. A man who thoroughly enjoyed life, Dave was adventurous and was proud of taking on skydiving at age 70. Above all, he loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughters, Renee Riedel of Kenosha; Leigh Ann (Brian) Englander of Lincolnville, ME; and Michele (Jeff) Klimek of Racine; grandchildren, Kassidy Klingbeil; Sarah and Gabby Englander; brother, Tom (Barbara) Riedel; brother-in-law, Michael (Phyllis) Redmond; his extended family at Rogan's Shoes; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dave was preceded in death by Maddy's parents, William and Florence (nee: Malone) Redmond.

In accordance with Dave's wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, January 9, 2012 from 5 -7 pm. Memorials to Hospice Alliance, Special Olympics or to one's favorite charity have been suggested.
