Racine – Davis "David" Lee Martin, age 65, passed away unexpectedly at home, with family by his side, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
David was born in Racine,WI on March 12, 1959 to the late Grover Martin and Reatha Mae Ramsey. He attended Washington Park High School in Racine.
On June 30, 2001 in Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Marvie Lynn (nee: Branch) Martin. David was a master self-employed car mechanic, working on many automobiles for customers, family & friends. He also enjoyed working with his wife, Marvie, at Culver's in Kenosha.
David was all about his family – all day, every day! He enjoyed fishing, yardwork, car shows, State Fair, Summerfest, mornings at MJ's talking with the fellas and was an animal lover. David was a simple yet extraordinary man who always wore cowboy boots and talked to anyone who would listen.
Surviving are his loving wife, Marvie; sons, Marcus Dukes, Roderick Martin and Harrison Martin; grandchildren, Quintel, Maya, Mariah, Summer and Kahlani; brothers & sisters, Geneva Campbell, Jennifer Ramsey, John (Tashare) Ramsey, Jr., Cindy Martin, Erika Martin and Kelvin (Lashonda) Martin; brothers-in-law, John (Phynell) Branch and Lyle Branch; sisters-in-law, Frieda Smith and Kendra Branch; extended family, Richard Martin, Lelia Carothers, Hubert Martin, MJ, Mr. Motown, Timothy Dukes and Hervie Martin; plus a citywide host of family & friends – too numerous to mention all by name.
In addition to his parents Grover Martin and Reatha Mae Ramsey, David was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Martin; sisters, Johnnie Mae Martin and Janice Carothers; Marvie's parents, Charley and Margaret Branch; and sister-in-law, Sheila Branch.
Homegoing celebration will be held at Christ Chapel MBC (815 Park Avenue) on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 10:00 am with Rev. T.L. Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Viewing will be in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home from on Friday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and in Christ Chapel on Saturday from 9-10 am.
