Dawn Marie Cooper, age 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center.

Dawn was born in Racine, WI on November 7, 1950. A graduate of St. Catherine’s High School class of 68’, she went on to graduate from Gateway School of Nursing. Dawn proudly served our country with the United States Army as First Sergeant, and was active during Desert Storm.

Dawn served our community as a nurse in different care facilities including Union Grove VA Clinic and eventually retired from Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. Outside of her love for our country and caring for veterans, Dawn enjoyed spoiling her faithful canine companion “Brownie”, basket weaving, trying her luck at Potawatomi Casino, and had quite the collection of cookbooks.

Surviving are her Irish twin, Sandra Schumaker; brother, Isa Sadlon; special aunt, Sue (Lou) Magana; sisters-in-law, Anna (Dan) Porter & Tina Perkins; God-daughter, niece & caregiver, Sarah (Shawn) Mayer; other dear nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.

Dawn was preceded in death by her father, Ronald J. Perkins; mother, Barbara (nee: Bundy) Baumann; twin brothers, Scott & Mick Perkins; significant other, Joe Mara; and brother-in-law, Willie Schumaker.
