Twin Lakes – Delores E. " Mardi " Teutsch, 56, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Waukegan, Il. on March 27, 1951. During her lifetime, she also lived in Kenosha and Twin Lakes. A graduate of Waukegan High School, class of 1969, Mardi went on to earn her teaching degree from Truman State University in Missouri. In 1976, she was united in marriage to Ralph Teutsch, who preceded her in death on June 15, 2004. Catholic by faith, Delores devoted her life to teaching special education in the Waukegan public school system for over 32 years. Delores was a long time member of the Waukegan Teachers Union, Lions Club, and had worked as a counselor at the YMCA Camp Jorn for many years. She was a world traveler and enjoyed craft festivals. Above all, she loved being in the surroundings of her family. Surviving are her loving brothers and sisters, dear nieces and nephews, former students and co-workers, and by many friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Antonette Balderas. In accordance to Delores's wishes, private funeral services were held in the funeral home on Friday, July 13, 2007. The Rev. Mark R. Jones officiated. Interment followed in Kenosha at Green Ridge Cemetery. In memory of Delores, memorials may be sent to Truman State University Foundation, 100 E. Normal St., Kirksville, Mo 63501-4221.
