Shreveport, LA-Delores H. (nee: Love) Crayton was born on April 25, 1956 to the late Lucy V. Golden in Sheffield, Alabama. She graduated from Washington Park High School in 1974 in Racine, WI. After graduation Delores furthered her education at UW- Parkside.
Delores accepted Christ as her Savoir at the age of 16 and was united with Mount Eagle Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir. She was employed as a Tip Welder/Assembler at Delphi for 25 years until 2004 when she relocated to Shreveport, LA and continued working for 5 more years at General Motors, retiring in 2008 after 30 years of dedicated service. Delores was a member of UAW 2166.
Delores enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, cooking, bike riding and playing card in her leisure time. The time she cherished most was the time that she spent with her family and friends.
Delores H. Crayton passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Texas Health Huguley Hospital in Burleson, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy V. Golden; sister, Barbara Boyd; Nieces, Rhonda Petty and Yvette Simmons; aunts, Zellie Mae Suggs and Elzadile Gordan. Left to cherish her beautiful memories are, her loving daughter, Paula S. Crayton and granddaughter, Adiah McGee both of Texas; Paula’s father, Paul Crayton of Racine; stepson, Otha Ivy of Tennessee; sisters, Linda Brantley, Maggie, Audrey and Bessie Swoopes, all of Racine; brother, Henry Love-Gordon of Racine; seven sisters in law, three brothers in law as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Delores will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 28th at 12:00pm in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of service.
