Racine, WI – Demond LaPrentiss Hicks was born on May 18, 1985 in Racine, WI, to Antoinette Hicks and DeAndrae Woods, Sr. He answered the call of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 26, 2022. He received his education through the Racine Unified School District and later used his knowledge to become an entrepreneur. Demond was the co-owner of Gifted Hands Group Home in Racine, WI. He also shared a passion for sports as well as classic cars. He often spent numerous hours working on his old school Chevrolet.

Demond loved and cherished his family and friends. He was an amazing dad to his 5 children as well as a father figure to his siblings. He was a well loved and respected mentor to everyone around him, so much that he was given the nickname "BIG Speaker" because his words of wisdom were so powerful. Demond's legacy will live on forever.

Demond is survived by his loving mother Antoinette Hicks; his father DeAndrae Woods, Sr, his children Dazerien Hicks, DeMyia Hicks, De'Rya Hicks, Dreyah Hicks, and Demoni Hicks. He is further survived by his brothers DeAndrae (Stephanie) Woods Jr; DeQuan Hicks, Christopher Hicks, DeAntrae Woods, Jamey Woods and DeAntae Woods; his sisters ShaSheena Woods, DeAndrea Woods, Marilyn Woods, JaToya Woods, KaDeidra (Julius) Wilson, Brenasia Woods, Dasia Woods and DeAsia Woods. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Demond is preceded in death by his grandparents Mack (Christine) Hicks, Marilyn Woods, and Melvin Sellers.

The Celebration of His Life will take place on Friday, March 11, 2022 11:00am in the chapel of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Rd., Racine, WI. Visitation will be in the chapel 10:00am – 11:00am.

Masks must be worn at all times while in the funeral home.
