Obituary

RACINE – Dereck Luther Miles,(Boosie) 82, passed away at his residence on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

He was born May 4, 1938 in Clarksdale Miss. to the late Sallie Smith and Robert Myles. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois. where he attended and graduated from Crane High school, as well as working many jobs including singing and performing throughout Chicago.  He later moved to Racine, WI in the early 70's  where he worked many years at SC Johnson Wax, retiring in the early 2000's. Boosie enjoyed singing, listening to a variety of music, watching sports, old movies, barbequing [cooking}, spending time with family and dear friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories, five daughters, Petrina West of Chicago IL, Debra (Eulias) Jackson of  Chicago IL, Rhea Henderson (Heath) of  Chicago IL, Tanya Watts of Racine WI and Tamra Anderson Racine WI; one son, Maurice (Sylvia) Gilliam of Racine WI; four sisters, Frances Stewart of Chicago IL, Pearl Owens of  Chicago Il,  Juanita (Clarence) Pinion of Bossier City, Louisiana, and  Jackie (Greg) Crite of Chicago, IL;  two brothers, Vernell Brown of Denver, Colorado, and Martin Brown of Racine, WI; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren;  a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sallie Smith; father, Robert Myles; brother, Maurice Brown; maternal and paternal grandparents; Aunt Premro Mosby; Uncle Elmo Myles, Sr; other relatives and friends also preceded him in death.

Special thanks to the Ascension Cancer Center here in Racine, as well as Shawn Watkins and Renate Foxie Jordan, who helped with Dereck's care.

Service Details

Family and friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, April 3, 2021 for a memorial homegoing service.
