Obituary

Derick Duane Bostick, born September 29, 1957 in Racine, WI to Donald and Katherine. He is the proud descendant of the following known grandparents born in slavery; Mariah Byrd, Rosana Salsbury, Maria Bonnar, Randle and Lou Thomas, Sonny and Ida Gaston, Reese and Emma Thornton, Ferdinand and Mary Bostick.

Derick died from a car accident on November 7, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee.  He was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and Second Missionary Baptist Church.  Derick attended Washington Park High School and received his High School Equivalency Diploma from the State of Wisconsin on January 25, 1977. He received his Diploma in Barbering from Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute on January 6, 1981.  Derick is a past member of the Kiltie Kadets and served as the drum major and a bugle player.  He also was a member of Terian Dance Studio, where he studied Tap Dance and Gymnastics.

Derick loved spending time with his family and friends.  He was a peacemaker and had a warm heart.

Derick and Lisa were joined in Holy Matrimony on June 17, 2013.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife; Lisa, sons; Jarvis, Antwon, Montae, Derick II and Deon, daughter; Crystal, Delitha, Mariah and Nicole, Mother; Katherine Thornton – Wells, Father; Donald Bostick, Step father; Eddie Wells, Grandmother; Mary Thornton, Brothers; Dale and Eddie, Sisters; Monica, Malitha and Robbin, Great Aunt; Elizabeth Freeman, Aunt; Shirleen "My Leen" Williams, Uncle; Olen Williams, Grandchildren; Jarneisha, Tiara, Jarneika, Derick II, Ajha, Chardinai, Chazmire, Montasia, Makala, Destiny, Diamond and Chalea, First Cousins, Carol, Leonardo, Kevin, LaDawn, Brandon "Bran", Cedra and Tyrone, Special Friends and mother; Barbara Kay, Marilyn, Teresa, Edna and Jackie (deceased), special friends; Curtis, Little John, Joe, Michael, James and Darrell, along with a host of other loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his Stepmother Mother Helen, Grandparents; Eugene Thornton, Leonard and Julia Bostick, Great Grandparents; Matt and Augusta Mosley, Charlie and Rosa Thornton, Isadore and Velma Evans as well as his brothers; Danna and Dean Bostick.  Derick will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Paul MBC, 1123 Center St.on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 10:00am for the Celebration of Derick's Life.  Visitation will be held from 9:00am until the time of service at the church.  Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
