Mrs. Diane R. Cook, 83, passed away at Willowcrest Care Center in South Milwaukee on March 19, 2014.
She was born in Racine on August 30, 1930, the daughter of the late Edward and Carolyn (nee: Reichert) Haas. Mrs. Cook met her best friend and husband while attending Quincy College of Quincy, IL. On March 31, 1951 she married Joseph Cook at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Mrs. Cook retired from Mount Pleasant Industrial Park where she handled the accounting for the family business. She also held other positions throughout her career. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. She was a longtime member of St. Richard of Chichester and prayed the rosary every day. In her younger years, Mrs. Cook was also active with the Catholic Junior League. She had many interests such as; antiquing, reading mystery novels, flowers, decorating and cooking. In their retirement Mr. and Mrs. Cook enjoyed camping on their land near Castle Rock Lake. However, she was happiest when in the company of her entire family.
In addition to her husband Joseph she is survived by her children, Theresa (Donald) Gandy of Sheboygan, Liane (David) Berg, Kevin (Sandy) Cook both of Racine, Kelli (Bill) O'Neil of Franklin, Joseph (Donna) Cook of Seattle, WA, Desiree (James) Davis of Racine; her grandchildren, Nicole, Cameron, Travis, Courtney, Lauren, Michaela, Krystina, Kyle, Daniel, Joshua, Sydné, Carragan, Brandon, Tara, Andrea, Zachary, Caleb, Scosha, James, Bennett and Briann; her many dear great grandchildren; her sisters and brothers, Germaine Brigman of Racine, Bernadette (Al) Morrow of Sun Prairie, Marjorie Malko of Greenfield, Norman (Ruth) Haas of Waupun, Daniel (Marlene) Haas of Westfield, John (Loraine) Haas of Racine; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Thomas (Claudia) Cook of Indiana, Daniel (Mary Kay) Cook of Illinois, sister-in-law, Elaine Haas, Yvonne Haas and Lawrence Jansen all of Racine. Mrs. Cook was also preceded in death by her grandson, Christian Michael Gandy and her brothers and sister, Gregory Haas, Gerard Haas, Rosemary Jansen; sister-in-law, Ann Bennett and brother-in-law, Richard Malko.
Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church. (1509 Grand Ave.) on Monday, March 24, 2014 for a visitation from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The celebration of her life and funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. A private interment will take place at Holy Family Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to the Racine Catholic Junior League and St. Catherine's High School.
The Cook family is very grateful for Willowcrest Care Center and Heartland Hospice for going above and beyond expectations with the professional love and attention that was extended to Mrs. Cook while under their care.
